Last Journal, by Aldene Villardo
You can delete your Last Journal account and everything stored for it in the cloud, either from inside the app or by asking us directly. Both routes delete the same things.
If you have already uninstalled the app, or cannot reach that screen, email lastjournal.contact@gmail.com from the email address you used to sign in, and say that you want your account deleted.
We confirm it is really you before deleting anything. We reply to the email address on the account and wait for you to confirm from that address. A request sent from any other address, or one that is never confirmed, is not acted on — so nobody can have your journal deleted by asking on your behalf. Deleting a journal is permanent, so we would rather be slow than wrong.
Once you confirm, we complete the deletion and tell you it is done, within 30 days. If a request is unusually complex and needs longer, we will tell you inside those 30 days and take at most 60 days in total. Deleting it yourself in the app is faster, and needs no confirmation because you are already signed in.
This cannot be undone, and it is not reversible by us either — once your encryption keys are gone, any copy of a backup that might still exist is unreadable.
If you want to remove data from the cloud but keep your account, you can do that in the app without contacting us:
Deleting a backup removes that backup from cloud storage permanently. Freeing up space permanently deletes those photos from cloud storage; older backups that included them will restore without them. Your account, your other backups, and the journal on your device are all unaffected.
You can also email lastjournal.contact@gmail.com to ask us to remove specific data for you. We verify these requests the same way, and reply within 30 days — up to 60 days if the request is complex, in which case we tell you inside the first 30.
Nothing is kept. Deleting your account in the app removes your backups, photos and encryption keys from cloud storage immediately, and the account itself with them. We keep no archived copies and no earlier versions of removed files, so once it is gone we cannot restore it even if you ask.
If you email us instead, deletion happens once you have confirmed the request from the account's own email address, on the timescale above. The only thing kept afterwards is the request and its confirmation, which we may retain as a record of who asked and when.
Deleting your account does not touch the journal stored on your device. Your entries and photos stay exactly where they are, and the app keeps working without an account. To remove the journal from the device as well, delete the entries in the app or uninstall it.
